People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-profit organization which protects human rights and democratic values while providing humanitarian relief and development assistance in crisis regions across the world. Since 2005, People In Need Georgia actively supporting the development of civil society, the socio-economic integration of vulnerable groups and agriculture development in the regions.
The project aims to select regional media representatives, interested in advancing media literacy skills and motivated to design and implement media literacy projects jointly with the regional youth leaders.
Capacity building component:
- Selected target organizations will be trained in media literacy and disinformation issues:
- Digital literacy and social media consumption of Georgia
- Data verification and information verification
- Propaganda, and disinformation
- Fact-checking practices from other outlets
- Public Sector digitalization progress and current e-services.
Joint projects of regional media representatives and youth groups:
After the training selected media representatives will have an opportunity to assists and mentor small media literacy projects of young regional leaders.
They will be encouraged to plan and implement innovative and inclusive media projects with young regional leaders aiming to encourage public discussions about media literacy issues and to raise public awareness of mass communication and new technologies. Ultimately the media projects should equip local communities with appropriate skills to analyze and filter received information in the future.
Candidates are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Represent a registered media organization, actively operating in the region.
- Have sufficient physical and human resources to participate in the project and later facilitate the implementation of youth initiatives.
- The media organization should have experience in grant management (general reporting, financial reporting, etc.);
- In order to facilitate media literacy skills transfer in its target communities following completion of the project, the media organization should have the motivation and readiness to actively use the methodological media literacy module, developed as part of the project.
Stages of the call:
Media organizations, complying with the eligibility criteria and wishing to participate in the training:
- The application package is to be sent to: email@example.com with "Training on MiL" included in the subject line.
- At the second stage, only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
The deadline for application is 27 March 2021. Incomplete applications or applications received after the stated deadline will not be considered.
